Documentary film - YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!
PLEASE REBLOG. Thanks so much.
If you or someone you might know has access to video production gear in Los Angeles, please kindly read on.
I need some help, and I promise not to ask you for money. Myself and a few friends have been given a great opportunity to shoot a documentary for a non-profit organization called Giving Children Hope. The film will focus on a woman in Thailand named Kru Nam, who runs an orphanage for child victims of human trafficking (see photo above - that’s her with some of the children). She’s sort of the Harriet Tubman of the Burmese-Thai sexual slavery ring. She rescues children from brothels (many of whom have been kidnapped or sold by their parents) and spirits them away to safety at her orphanage.
The documentary will tell Kru Nam’s story in the hopes of bringing awareness to her work and raising funds for Giving Children Hope, which is an organization that provides medical supplies to these children (and many other needy people throughout the world).
So here’s where we need help. The budget for this documentary is $0. Not figuratively zero, but literally.. zero. We will be covering our own travel expenses and many additional costs related to the production of the documentary. But I’m turning to you in the hope that you might be able to help us find in-kind donations of production equipment (most importantly a CAMERA).
We will need the equipment for approximately ten days, perhaps as early as next Friday, the 25th of September. We are experienced production folks so you can be assured the gear will be well cared for. We are looking for in-kind donations, though it’s possible we will be able to come up with a minimal payment if that’s the only option (this would come out of our own pockets, and we aren’t the richest, if you know what I mean).
Please help if you can. Anyone who is able to loan equipment will be prominently thanked in the film. Please FORWARD this email to folks you know that may have connections to this equipment and who may feel like providing some tangible help to this great cause. I love you.
The list of equipment we are looking for follows.
SO MANY THANKS,
Matthew
Specifically we are looking for:
-An HD camera. We need a decent prosumer HD camera capable of shooting 24p, along the lines of a Canon XH-A1(s), Sony FX1000, or the Panasonic AG-HMC series. This is the obviously the most important piece of equipment we are seeking.
-Sound equipment. We need a good shotgun mic and two lav mics.
-Tripod
-Batteries/tape stock or memory depending on what camera we get/any other accessories
-Glidecam or other light camera stabilizer (This is a wishlist item, meaning that it’s not critical to our mission.)
-35mm adapter such as the Letus, along with lenses. (This is also a wishlist item.)
